Once Windows 10 arrives the Xbox One will be able to access the Microsoft Store and download thousands of apps that will be compatible with the console. Cross-buy will be supported for compatible apps so users won’t have to pay money for the same app across different platforms like desktop, mobile and console.
It should be kept in mind though that Xbox One won’t be receiving Windows 10 until later this year, it’s not likely to be rolled out alongside Windows 10 for desktop this July.
The Windows 10 release date has still not yet been confirmed by Microsoft. Even at its BUILD conference last week the company merely said that we should expect the new software to arrive in the coming months.
There’s no word as yet on the schedule for Xbox One. A representative for Microsoft has said that Windows 10 won’t arrive on the console until “much later.”
