My 10 Favourite Looks From Genevieve Nnaji

. . No comments:

Genevieve is most definitely one of the most beautiful and talented actresses in Africa, she is also such a style icon. I almost feel like she ages backward and I live for her style choices. My favourite part of her in terms of fashion is how unlike many other celebrities she understands that there is a different look for every occasion. Every single time, she brings her A-game whether she is on the red carpet of an award-show, at a wedding, or just attending an informal event. Genevieve absolutely slays all the time.

I also adore the fact that most of the time she is wearing outfits from Nigerian designers, sometimes she even wears stuff off the runway, which is just classic!

Here are my top 10 favourite looks from Genevieve Nnaji

1)At the African Magic Igbo launch
Do you remember what I said about her having the right outfit for every occasion? This was Genevieve’s outfit to the African Magic Igbo launch which held last week. Although quite a number of celebrities at the event, were dressed in traditional Igbo outfits, she stood out. Officially the best dressed at that event.

2)At the 2013 AMVCA’s in Bridget Awosika
This is probably her second most controversial look, with several people not approving of her outfit and Denrele asking her that completely unnecessary question on the red carpet, the ‘Are you wearing a bra?’

Nigerians are just hypocritical, fast forward to 2015 and I cant count the number of Nigerian celebrities that have keyed into the pant suit trend.

This outfit is definitely my second favourite of all Genevieve’s red carpet choices. I was absolutely smitten, I did not see what was inappropriate about the outfit then, and I most certainly can’t see it now.

3)At the 2014 AMVCA’s in Jewel by Lisa
This is another outfit many did not approve of, but I loved it. As far as I am concerned this is how you show up to an award-show when you are fashion royalty and TV royalty. This Jewel by Lisanumber was perfect for her.

She was styled by none other than Veronica Ebie-Odeka of Vane Style

4)At the AY Live 2014 show in Catherine Malandrino
Genevieve is wearing a Catherine Malandrino DesignNation Shirt Dress, which she paired with a chanel flap bag, and a pair of Christian louboutin sandals.

This outfit was appropriate-casual, laid back but stylish- for the event and Genevieve seemed to be one amongst many that got the memo, because I remember seeing several celebrities in evening dresses and 3 piece suits.

5)At the Toronto International Film Festival 2013 in Andrea Iyamah
This jumpsuit fit her like a glove, absolutely a match made in heaven for her body. If I could however change one thing about it I would have made it slightly shorter so we could at least see the shoes she had on.

I also really like that she wore her hair up and kept her accessories at the barest minimum. Asides the length of the jumpsuit, every other thing equals perfection.

6)At Mo Abudu’s 50th birthday
For some unusual reason, no media platform has pictures that really depict how beautiful this dress was on her. Genevieve looked absolutely flawless.

7)At a friend’s wedding in Huddaya Couture
This dress is all shades of glam and it is one of Genevieve’s off the runway purchases. From her hair, to make-up, accessories, and the fitting of the dress every thing was resplendent.

8)At the 2013 AMVCA’s in April by Kunbi
This was her second outfit to the 2013 AMVCA’s. This is one of my favourite designs from Kunbi Oyelese. I think it is the fact that I can’t place what makes this dress so awesome, I mean the design is pretty simple, the fabric is good but there is something that just makes the entire outfit amazing. Absolutely love this look.

9)At the 2015 AMVCA’s in Elvira Jude
It is safe to say Genevieve was on every best dressed list for the 2015 AMVCA’s and while I cant deny that she looked really beautiful and a lot better than several other celebrities, I was a bit underwhelmed by her choice. This dress is gorgeous but I expected more from her especially because it was the AMVCA’s which is the African equivalent to The Academy Awards.

Also, compared to her previous choices for the 2013 & 2014 AMVCA’s this fell flat. Still love it though!

10)At the 2014 AFRIFF Awards
This was definitely a different path compared to the one she takes when it comes to her red carpet choices, but she still pulled it off well. I am however more in love with the fabric than the design of the dress. She also held a lot of awkward poses on the red carpet, but when it is Genevieve you cant complain.

Most of Genevieve’s looks are styled by Veronica Ebie-Odeka of Vane Style. I must also commend Genevieve’s hair stylist, I don’t know who it is but her hair always always looks fabulous on the red carpet.
